A Dungeon Demon map contains one or more layers of graphical objects. To start a new map in Dungeon Demon you must
run the program and then go to the File menu and select New Map. By default the new map will have dimensions of 1000x1000
pixels. Dungeon Demon art is all created at a scale of 20 pixels = 1 foot so your 1000x1000 pixel dungeon would represent
a game map of 50x50 feet. Feel free to change the dimensions if you care to - you will also be able to resize your map
later on at any time without losing any of your work. The most important reason to consider your eventual map size is so
that you can start by roughing in all of your major features - to do that you should have in mind what your design will
eventually contain. Don't worry too much about this when you are just starting out, just take the defaults and have fun
making cool looking maps!
Maps are saved in XML format with the extension .xml - you can load up a map file into a text editor and look
at all of the elements therein.
We are happy to supply technical details to game programmers interested in using Dungeon Demon to load and render map in their games.
