Be It Ever So Humble...
August 24th, 2007

Well, we are back in Terrace tonight after 5 days on the road. Bed is going to feel great tonight.

We had an awesome time at the lake this year and I got a ton of work done on Font Fiend. Tonights notes though will be on the trip. Cranberry Country Lodge in Wisconsin was the hands down best value - we paid around $90 USD for a great room, a water park that had the kids raving (although the hot tub needed a cleaning) and a good breakfast. Contrasted with the Hilton in Saskatoon at $200 + parking fees and no breakfast... we will be taking the kids back to CCL before the Hilton. In the Hilton's defense they did have a nice hot tub in an adjoining suite and Saskatoon was pretty much booked up on a Wed. night so they can pretty much charge what they want. Hardee's, again, wins the best fast food award - what a great burger those folks make.

I'd like to publicly thank the guys at Kal Tire in Saskatoon - woke up to a flat tire Thursday AM which they promptly fixed (had us on the road in less than an hour) and, get this, they didn't charge a cent for the job. Sweet.

Otherwise a largely uneventful trip except for a missed on ramp that had us detour through the university area in Cleveland. Cleveland was an interesting looking city and I could spend a few days there enjoying the great architecture and taking pictures of houses (a new hobby, I'm turning into a house design geek).

Peace,
L
