I like conspiracy theories as much as the next guy but I have a hard time believing in them as reality. That said, there is a ton of truth in Paul Farrell's article about Disaster Capitalism. Well worth a read.
I hope everybody in the US gets out and votes their conscience in the coming election. And, for everybody's sake, I hope that the next US administration has more foresight and wisdom than the current one. Leading the world's most powerful nation is an awesome responsibility that has been disastrously mismanaged in the past eight years. As a Canadian citizen I have to say that I believe in the US and its potential to be a force for good in the world. But the Bush administration turning its back on a democratic vote in the UN that didn't go its was hardly the right way to advance the cause of democracy building in the Middle East. The next US leader and his administration have a lot of work to do and they are going to need more foresight and patience than the last if things are going to get repaired.
Peace,
L.
