Invalid certificate
June 21st, 2007

I use Thunderbird as my email client - switched a couple of years ago after being warned of security hazards with Outlook Express. It's free and it generally works great. Not sure how people give away software that takes a long time to write - the plumber has yet to offer an open source type arrangement when he comes to my house - but they do and I enjoy using it. Except today. I have started getting an invalid certificate whenever I try to send anybody an email, apparently I have a duplicated certificate somewhere. This has happened once in the past and the answer is to go to tools/options/security and nuke a bunch of certificates. So far so good - except that Thunderbird reinstates the certificates as soon as I delete them and hit OK. I've tried shutting down all other programs including the Firefox browser and I even updated Thunderbird from 1.5.7 to 2.0. No go - I erase ‘em, it says OK and then when I hit OK... it puts 'em back. Driving me a bit bats - when it's resolved I'll let you know how it happened.

Peace-out,
L.
